The Helping Hand food pantry, located in the lower level of First Congregational Church, provides food to families living in Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland Twp., Auburn Hills and Addison Twp. Through a long-time partnership, Rochester Area Neighborhood House and the First Congregational Church work together to provide local families and individuals with an emergency supply of food.
Clients screened at Rochester Area Neighborhood House starting at 9 AM Monday -Thursday. Pantry orders filled after screening Monday – Thursday, 12:30 AM – 3 PM, in the community service wing.
The Upper Room
The Upper Room is a community-wide group of Rochester area teens. The youth meet in the church’s lower level. They create and plan their own activities, including singing (Karaoke), dramas, tournaments, group games, sports, dances, etc. Adults are present to monitor the activities. A Youth Advisory Board does much of the planning. It offers a great time in a safe, caring environment. It’s just a wonderful place to “”hang out”” with your friends. A weekly $5 entry fee covers food and event expenses. Snacks include pizza, bread sticks, pop, popcorn, cookies, crackers, fruit, water, coffee, candy, etc. All who attend must be respectful of themselves, each other and all property. There is no alcohol, no smoking, nor any drug use on or around the church property. Full details of the rules are available.
Meeting time: Saturday, 7 PM – 10:30 PM

Meeting time: by appointment with your Stephen Minister; the Stephen Ministers meet monthly.
Church World Service
Our congregation helps support Church World Service, a non-profit organization with programs such as the CROP Walk for hunger relief, the Blanket Fund and Gifts of the Heart collections of school kit, health kit and baby layette items.
Compassion in Action (CompAct)
On November 23, 2014 First Congregational Church voted to embrace the Open and Affirming Statement of Purpose and Covenant and include it into our by-laws. This was after a great deal of work by our Compassion in Action Team. We have been approved by the national UCC offices and can now designate ourselves as an ONA church! The Compassion in Action group will continue to educate and inform our members in this arena.
